Improve Your Relationships with Transcendental Meditation

One of the commonest benefits that new Transcendental Meditation meditators report is that relationships with those close to them - family, friends and business colleagues - improve within a short time. When we meditate, we set aside a short period of time just for ourselves. This is not a selfish activity - by taking a little time to improve ourselves, to reduce stress and tension, we are increasing our capacity to respond to the needs of our family and friends. Transcendental Meditation develops broader awareness, greater happiness, and refined feelings and emotions. All these result in a more positive and warm personality capable of enjoying deeper relationships and a richer personal life.

With Transcendental Meditation, the quality of our behaviour improves. As we feel more at peace within ourselves we naturally become more tolerant and understanding. We give more when we feel better within ourselves. TM improves the ability of the individual to give, to be generous, and to love, and this is the basis of fulfilling relationships.

Facts and Figures

Transcendental Meditation leads to reduced use of alcohol, cigarettes and both prescribed and non-prescribed drugs, enhances recovery from stress and improves many aspects of mental health.

Transcendental Meditation has been used in prison systems in about 20 countries. One study found a 45% decrease in re-offending rates when prisoners had learned TM in prison. Applied to the UK this would produce a vast cost saving.

Research has found that wherever 1% of a population practise Transcendental Meditation, crime and other negative trends in surrounding areas decrease. When people practise the advanced technique Yogic Flying the effect is even more effective. This phenomenon is called the Maharishi Effect.
