For at least a decade there has been a marked increase in the interests of philosophers and geographers in each others' work. Philosophers appreciate the synthetic approach of geographers, and find their philosophy improved by the concrete, grounded examples of geographic work.

The SPP elects officers and Executive Committee members at its annual business meeting. The President serves a one year term, and also serves as President-elect and Past President (ex officio positions on the Executive Committee) in the years before and after he or she presides.

The South Carolina Society for Philosophy was founded to serve the interests and needs of philosophy students and professionals around the State of South Carolina. We meet once a year, generally sometime in February or early March, at various universities or colleges around the state (usually rotating the meeting location from year to year among coastal, midlands, and upstate campuses).
